Reverse description Irregular rectangular silver flan with a border of raised hemispherical bosses arranged in a continuous row around the perimeter, enclosing a finely striated central field. Two small lozenge-shaped punch marks appear near the top of the field. Three Chinese characters — 福知山 (Fukuchiyama) — are rendered in raised hammered relief in two vertical columns occupying the centre of the field, identifying the issuing domain. The overall execution is characteristic of improvised domain emergency coinage of the Meiji Restoration period.
