Additional information

Mongolia's 1925 coinage series was among the first issued by the Mongolian People's Republic following the country's reorganization under Soviet influence after the 1921 revolution. The 1925 issues were struck in Leningrad, the new republic lacking any domestic minting infrastructure. Soviet technical and economic dependence ran deep — the denominations themselves, the möngö system, were structured in direct parallel to the Soviet kopek framework introduced that same period.

The .500 fine silver specification was a deliberate compromise, matching Soviet subsidiary coinage standards of the era rather than the higher fineness of pre-revolutionary Chinese-influenced currency that had previously circulated in the region.
