| Obverse description | Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with flowing, wavy locks cascading behind the neck and a laurel wreath crowning the brow. The facial features are finely detailed, displaying a classically idealized profile with a straight nose and slightly parted lips. A small bee symbol appears to the right of the head in the field, serving as a civic emblem of Tauromenion. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered gold coinage of this period and region. |
