Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Leopold I facing right, hair rendered smooth, with a lion-head pauldron on the shoulder; the crown of the head nearly touches the rim. The denomination XV appears in Roman numerals within the legend. The inscription is arranged on a ribbon or streamer banner encircling the portrait, reading LEOPOLDVS D G R I (XV) S AV GE HV BO REX.

Reverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed within a circle, wings spread and heads facing outward. The regnal legend is arranged on a ribbon or streamer banner surrounding the eagle, reading ARCHID AVS D (CA) VX B CO TYR followed by the undivided date at the end of the legend. The Vienna mint mark CA appears below the eagle in the lower field.
