Obverse description Laureate bust of Holy Roman Emperor Franz I (Francis of Lorraine) facing right, rendered in high relief. The portrait divides the encircling Latin legend, which commences at approximately seven o'clock. The legend reads FRANC D G R I S A G IER R LO B M H D, an abbreviation for Franciscus Dei Gratia Romanorum Imperator Semper Augustus Germaniae Ierosolymae Rex Lothringiae Barii Magnus Hetruriae Dux. The effigy is draped and presented in the classical imperial style typical of mid-18th century Habsburg coinage.
