| Additional information |
Charles II of Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn served as Bishop of Olomouc from 1664 until his death in 1695, presiding over a diocese still recovering from the devastation of the Thirty Years' War. The 15 Kreuzer denomination was a workhorse of the Habsburg monetary system in the 1670s, produced by numerous ecclesiastical and secular mints simultaneously — which is precisely why KM#231.2 carries a variety distinction, differentiating it from closely related dies struck across the same short window.
