Obverse description Full-length facing figures of Saints Conrad (left) and Pelagius (right) standing side by side, each in episcopal vestments; Saint Conrad holds a crozier and Saint Pelagius bears a palm frond, emblems of their respective martyrdom and office. Between the two figures, at center base, appears the quartered city arms of Konstanz on a shield. The circumferential legend reads S. CONRAD and S. PELAGIVS, identifying the patron saints of the city. The overall composition is rendered in a bold, late-Renaissance hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German municipal coinage.
