Obverse description Printed in brown-orange on thin cardboard in the format of a postage stamp, with perforated edges. A central oval vignette carries an intaglio portrait of Emperor Nicholas I facing three-quarters right, framed by foliate and floral ornamental scrollwork on either side. The inscription ПОЧТА appears in a panel at the top, with the denomination numeral 15 and КОП repeated at lower left and lower right, separated by a decorative foliate motif at the base.

(Translation: MAIL NICHOLAS I 15 KOP 15 KOP)
Reverse description Plain cream-coloured surface printed in black, enclosed within a thin double-rule rectangular border. The Imperial Russian double-headed eagle coat of arms is positioned at the upper centre. Below, a block of bold Cyrillic letterpress text in four lines states the note's legal tender status as equivalent to silver subsidiary coinage.
