CGB Numismatique Paris issued a short series of regional fantasy notes in 2008, each denominated in euros despite having no legal tender status anywhere. These were collector items sold directly through their numismatic catalogues — privately produced souvenir paper, essentially, dressed in the visual grammar of circulating currency. The Midi-Pyrénées issue is one of several in the run, each tied to a French administrative region that ceased to exist when the 2016 territorial reform merged them into larger units. Midi-Pyrénées was absorbed into Occitanie.
