Reverse description The reverse features a central cameo rendered in 24-karat gold plating depicting a rabbit, the fourth animal of the Chinese zodiac cycle, set against a finely detailed background. Surrounding the central motif is a decorative ring composed of the twelve animals of the Chinese lunar calendar, each individually portrayed in high relief. The design by José Osio draws on traditional Chinese artistic conventions to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit within Canada's ongoing Lunar New Year commemorative series. The mintmark 'HC' appears within the reverse field.
