Australia's platinum Kookaburra series occupies an odd corner of the bullion market — never as liquid as the gold or silver Kookaburras, and produced in fractional sizes that most institutional buyers ignore entirely. The 1/10 oz platinum denomination has historically seen mintages well below its gold and silver counterparts, making secondary-market supply genuinely thin rather than artificially so.
The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, sculpted by Jody Clark and adopted by the Perth Mint from 2015, appeared on Australian issues later than on most Commonwealth coinage.
