Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Susanna Blunt, occupies the centre of the obverse field, depicting a mature, uncrowned right-facing portrait of the sovereign adorned with a pearl necklace and drop earrings. The sculptural relief is rendered with fine detail, particularly in the arrangement of the Queen's styled hair. The circumferential legend reads 'ELIZABETH II' to the left and 'D·G·REGINA' to the right, separated by the portrait. The engraver's initials 'SB' appear discretely below the Queen's effigy near the neckline. The mirrored proof fields provide a strong contrast against the frosted devices.
