The Achaean cities of the northern Peloponnese struck bronze coinage as a loose regional grouping well before the formal refoundation of the Achaean League around 280 BC. These earlier civic issues predate the League's unified silver and bronze series and reflect a period when individual poleis maintained independent monetary output while sharing cultural and religious ties centered on the sanctuary of Zeus Homarios.
