Obverse description Panoramic city view of Esslingen dominated by the tall Gothic spire of the Frauenkirche in the central field, with vineyards to the left and the city castle visible on the hillside. The legend arcs along the upper border within a beaded inner circle. In the exergue below, the crowned Württemberg coat of arms is flanked by oak and laurel branches in relief.

Reverse description The turreted and nimbed Esslingen civic eagle with spread wings, head turned left, bearing an inscribed shield on its breast, displayed prominently in the central field. Two scroll banners flank the mural crown above, carrying the legend. Below the eagle, a circular shooting target is depicted over crossed rifles and oak branches in relief.
