| Obverse description | Capricorn depicted in left profile, the mythological sea-goat rendered with a goat's foreparts and a fish-tail curling beneath, occupying the central field. A small globe or orb is shown beneath the creature, serving as an Augustan symbol of world dominion. The field is bordered by a ring of pellets forming a beaded inner border, and the flan is irregular and compact.
