| Obverse lettering | ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA 125 DOLLARS (Translation: Elizabeth II Queen by the grace of God) |
| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by artist Rebecca Yanovskaya, presents a richly detailed artistic rendition of the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Newfoundland, Canada. Norse explorer Leif Eriksson is depicted in the foreground, standing prominently as he surveys the settlement he founded circa the year 1000, while his crew is shown engaged in activities behind him. Selective gold plating accentuates the ornamental borders and decorative flourishes, which are drawn from traditional Norse art and wood-carving motifs. The inscription CANADA appears in a runic-inspired font, flanked by the dual dates 1945 – 2020 and accompanied by the UNESCO logo, commemorating the organisation's 75th anniversary. The composition masterfully combines high-relief sculptural elements with intricate surface decoration to evoke both historical narrative and artistic tradition. |
