Obverse description Central squarish quartered shield of six-fold arms with an inescutcheon, surmounted by a large royal crown and flanked by elaborate baroque scrollwork and ornamental mantling. The denomination 'G.120' appears in a cartouche at the base of the shield. The encircling legend reads CAR : D : G : REX NEA - HISP : INFANS &c:, identifying Charles as King of Naples and the Two Sicilies by the grace of God.

Reverse description Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and the forge, reclines to the left in a classical pose, holding an upright shovel or spade. In the right background rises the smoking cone of Mount Vesuvius, referencing the volcanic landscape of the Kingdom of Naples. The date appears in the exergue below. The reverse legend DE SOCIO PRINCEPS encircles the composition, a phrase alluding to the king's partnership with the forces of nature.
