| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena facing right, with an elaborate full-bottomed wig of flowing curls. The breastplate is adorned with the eight-pointed cross of the Order of St. John. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a bold Baroque style, filling most of the coin's field. The circular legend, interrupted at the base, reads DE VILHENA F·D·AN: MANOEL around the periphery within a milled border. |

| Reverse description | A large, ornate oval escutcheon bearing the quartered arms of the Order of Malta — featuring the cross of the Order, a lion rampant, and an eagle displayed — surmounted by a grand master's crown and set within elaborate Baroque scrollwork cartouche. The denomination Z 12 appears flanking the shield in the field. The circular legend M·MAGIS: HOS: ET S·S·HIERVS A: 1725 runs around the periphery, with the date 1725 incorporated into the legend, all within a milled border. |
