Reverse description The reverse displays a bold Cross of the Order of Christ at center, with decorative rosettes positioned in each of the four corners of the field. The circumferential motto, separated by pellet dividers, reads IN HOC SIGNO VINCES, the traditional Constantinian inscription associated with the Order of Christ. The overall design is clean and heraldic in character, consistent with Portuguese silver coinage of the early nineteenth century. Two varieties are known: one featuring a plain single cross and one with a rayed cross.
