Obverse description Armoured draped bust of Grand Master Ramon Despuig facing right, wearing a long curled periwig with flowing locks falling over the shoulders; the breastplate is finely detailed and partially visible at the lower truncation. The legend surrounds the effigy in an unbroken arc, and the coin exhibits a reeded or milled border throughout. The overall style is characteristic of late Baroque portraiture as employed on Maltese coinage of the early eighteenth century.
