Obverse description Highly stylised Celticised head of Herakles facing right, rendered in the characteristic Celtic abstract manner with the facial features dissolved into swirling pellet-and-comma motifs, radiating curvilinear lines representing the lion-skin headdress splaying dramatically across the field. The eye is depicted as a large concentric annulet with a central pellet, while the hair and mane are articulated through bold relief strokes terminating in pellets. A pellet within an annulet appears before the face in the right field, serving as a secondary decorative or symbolic device. The overall design reflects an advanced stage of Celtic artistic abstraction derived from the prototype staters of Lysimachos of Thrace.
