Obverse description The Doge Bertucci Valier depicted kneeling in profile to the left, robed in ducal vestments and holding an elongated staff surmounted by a cross and pennant. The legend encircling the field reads BERTVC· VALERIO·D· B·V, with the mintmaster's initials BV appearing in the exergue below the figure. The composition reflects the traditional Venetian devotional style, presenting the Doge in an attitude of supplication characteristic of late Republic coinage.
