Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborate interlaced royal cypher of Frederik IV, composed of two mirrored script 'F' characters intertwined with the numeral '4', forming a symmetrical monogram. The cypher is surmounted by a large royal crown rendered in high relief with detailed arched bands and orb finial. The surrounding legend, reading clockwise from the lower left, is divided by the crown: DEI • G • REX • DAN • NOR • V • G •, referencing the king's titles by the grace of God over Denmark, Norway, the Wends and the Goths. The design is executed in the baroque court style typical of early eighteenth-century Danish coinage, with the monogram filling the majority of the flan.

Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination inscription arranged in four horizontal lines across the full field, reading TOLF / SKILLING / DANSKE, with the date 1711 on the fourth line flanked by two pellets. Below the date, the mint master's initials C W appear separated by a heart-shaped mintmark, all within a plain border. The bold, deeply struck Roman lettering fills the flan with no additional decorative elements, presenting a stark and legible typographic design characteristic of Danish skilling coinage of the period.
