| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VI of Spain facing left occupies the central field of the host coin, a Spanish colonial 1 Escudo struck at Popayán or Santa Fe de Bogotá. A Jamaican counterstamp — depicting a crowned royal cypher of George II — is applied at center over the king's effigy, sunken into the gold surface. The peripheral legend reads FERDND VI D G HISPAN ET IND REX, with the date 1758 and assayer initials appearing in the lower exergual area. A toothed or milled border frames the entire design. |
