| Obverse description | Printed in red and black on white paper, the obverse bears the title 'ORANJE VRIJ STAAT' in large bold letterpress at the top centre, with 'POST NOOT' immediately below. To the upper left is a vignette of the Orange Free State arms within an oval frame inscribed 'COMMISSIE LOON' and 'DRIE PENCE', while to the upper right a typeset denomination panel reads '12/6' in bold numerals. The body of the note contains printed instructions in Dutch, a payable order line reading 'Aan het Postwissel Kantoor te' and 'BETAAL aan', with the denomination spelled out in large letterpress as 'TWAALF SHILLINGS & ZES PENCE', followed by manuscript entries, a postmaster's signature line, and at the foot the printed firm name 'LETRON LIMITED' with a handwritten 'Manager' designation. |
