Obverse description Central crowned Portuguese royal coat of arms, featuring the quartered escutcheon with castles and shields, set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown, the whole surrounded by an ornamental beaded border. The field shows the characteristic rough hammered surface typical of colonial Goan copper coinage of the early nineteenth century.

Reverse description Bold denomination inscription in two lines reading '12.' over 'REIS' in large, deeply struck capital letters occupying the central field. The lettering is plain and utilitarian in style, with no surrounding legend or border devices, consistent with the crude hammered coinage produced at the Goa mint during the Joãonine period.
