Obverse description Letterpress-printed in black in a tall, narrow vertical format. A rectangular cartouche at the upper centre carries the denomination inscription in Chinese regular script (kaisho). Below, three skipjack tuna (katsuo) are rendered in profile, oriented to the left — a deliberate allusion to the principal export commodity of the Tosa Domain and a distinctive regional motif unique to this issue.
