Reverse description A large, ornately detailed royal crown dominates the center of the field, rendered with fine engraving showing jewels, arches, and a cross at the apex. Immediately below the crown appears the denomination in Roman numerals 'XII • M •' (twelve mark), and below that the date, with the mintmaster's initials incorporated between or below the date numerals. The royal motto 'PRUDENTIA ET CONSTANTIA' (With Prudence and Constancy) arcs around the upper portion of the coin in a Latin legend. The rim is bordered by a fine milled or beaded edge.
