| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the crowned Portuguese royal arms, featuring the traditional escutcheon with the cross of five bezants (quinas) at center, flanked by decorative mantling with floral sprays at either side. The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown rendered in high relief. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design along the milled border, reading the joint regnal titles of Maria I and Pedro III. |
