| Obverse description | Central field displays the quartered arms of Hanau-Lichtenberg, consisting of a divided escutcheon with the chevron of Hanau on the dexter side and the lion of Lichtenberg on the sinister side, all surmounted by a crowned helmet with elaborate mantling. The date appears at the top of the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the arms, interrupted by pellet stops, reading the count's titles and name. The overall style is characteristic of late seventeenth-century German hammered coinage with a bold, deeply struck heraldic composition. |
