Obverse description Central field displays a squarish civic shield of Haguenau with concave sides, characteristic of the city arms. The date appears above the shield. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded or plain inner circle, with the Latin legend running along the outer circumference of the coin.

Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle occupies the central field, its wings spread in the characteristic Holy Roman Empire style. An orb is displayed on the eagle's breast. The Roman numeral value XII appears within an oval cartouche at the top of the design, between the two crowned heads. The imperial legend surrounds the eagle along the coin's outer border.
