Obverse description Central shield bearing the arms of Hagenau — a large five-petalled rose with a seeded centre, flanked by ornate foliate scrollwork. The date 1667 appears above the shield within the field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading HAGENOHENSIS MONE AR GEN CIVIT, denoting the silver coinage of the city of Hagenau. The coin exhibits a milled border of fine beading.

Reverse description A double-headed Imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread and each head turned outward, surmounted by a cross above an orb on the breast. The denomination (XII) appears in an arc between the two heads at the top of the field. The surrounding Latin legend reads LEOPOLDVS I D G ROM IMP S A AUG, identifying Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I. A beaded border frames the entire design.
