| Obverse description | Cast bronze flat-handled spade money of the pointed-foot (jian zu bu) type, with a hollow rectangular handle at the top featuring a characteristic flat crown. The broad trapezoidal blade narrows toward the central shaft before flaring outward to two diverging pointed feet at the base. The obverse field bears two archaic Chinese characters reading 'Jin Yang Ban' (晉陽半), denoting the mint city of Jinyang and the denomination ban (half), inscribed to the left of the central vertical rib. The entire surface is covered with an extensive green patina consistent with burial over many centuries. |
