Reverse description The arms of Spain, displaying the full royal coat of arms surmounted by a royal crown, occupies the central field. The shield quarters bear the castles of Castile, the lions of León, the chains of Navarre, and the pales of Aragon, with the pomegranate of Granada in base and the Bourbon fleur-de-lis in the center escutcheon. Flanking the shield are the Pillars of Hercules bearing the mottoes PLUS and VLTRA on banners. The Madrid mint mark (crowned M) appears at lower left, with the denomination 12 EURO at the bottom and the commemorative legend XXV ANIVERSARIO DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN ESPAÑOLA arcing around the upper periphery, with the years 1978 and 2003 flanking the shield on left and right respectively.
