Obverse description The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship on open water with a dove in flight above, a palm tree to the right, and a plough in the foreground, all enclosed within a shield surmounted by the national motto scroll reading 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE.' The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs along the upper periphery, with the date divided as '20' to the left and '10' to the right of the shield. The denomination '12 DOLLARS' is inscribed along the lower periphery, with a secondary inscription 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appearing on the lower portion of the shield's scroll.

Reverse description A faithful relief reproduction of Michelangelo's celebrated fresco 'The Creation of Adam' from the Sistine Chapel ceiling dominates the central field, depicted within a rectangular frame. To the left, the reclining figure of Adam extends his left arm toward the right, while to the right, the figure of God the Father, surrounded by a group of angels or heavenly figures within a billowing cloak, reaches out his right hand with index finger nearly touching Adam's. Below the central scene, the papal insignia of the crossed keys of Saint Peter surmounted by the papal tiara is shown in the lower field. The curved legend 'CAPPELLA SISTINA' arcs along the upper periphery, separated from the inner field by a dotted border.
