Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Nero facing right, with youthful features, curly hair rendered in fine strands, and a draped shoulder visible at the bust truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMANIC, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Claudius. The portrait is executed in the confident, idealized style characteristic of early Neronian coinage from the Rome mint. The fields show the fine hammered fabric typical of mid-first-century Roman silver issues.
