| Obverse description | Central field features the ornate shield-shaped arms of the Bank of Mongolia surmounted by the Soyombo national emblem, encircled by a laurel wreath at the base. The Cyrillic legend 'Монгол Банк' appears on a ribbon across the centre of the arms. Traditional Mongolian script inscriptions flank the central device to the left and right within the field. The large denomination numeral '12000' and the legend 'ТӨГРӨГ' are prominently struck in the lower field. The outer rim bears the Latin inscriptions 'MONGOLIA', '0.25 OZ.', '.999 GOLD', and '1997' along the lower periphery, with a reeded border encircling the entire design. |
