Obverse description Four quadrant scenes depicting allegorical representations of the four classical elements through everyday labour: a falconer with his bird of prey (Air), a fisherman drawing his net (Water), a farmer working near a mine entrance (Earth), and a blacksmith at his forge (Fire). The four vignettes are arranged symmetrically within the coin's field, rendered in fine relief in the baroque engraving style typical of early seventeenth-century Brunswick mining coinage. A circular Latin legend frames the composition within a beaded border.
