Additional information

The 2007 Monnaie de Paris "Grands Voyages" series drew on France's longstanding tradition of issuing commemorative silver for foreign cultural monuments — a program that has produced dozens of issues, making individual pieces from it modestly collected at best. The 1½ Euro denomination itself is a French invention, used almost exclusively by the Monnaie de Paris for commemorative purposes and never intended for circulation.
