| Obverse description | The obverse depicts a dramatic commemorative scene evoking the Battle of Austerlitz of 2 December 1805. In the upper portion of the field, a Napoleonic imperial eagle rises above a stylised sunrise rendered with radiating rays, symbolising the famous 'Soleil d'Austerlitz.' To the right stands a figure of Napoleon Bonaparte in profile, shown in his iconic greatcoat and bicorne hat. In the lower field, a regiment of soldiers is shown advancing in formation across the battlefield. The monogram 'RF' (République Française) and the date '2005' appear in the upper field, while the inscription 'LE SOLEIL D'AUSTERLITZ' arcs across the lower portion of the coin. |
