Obverse description The obverse displays the elaborately quartered coat of arms of the Principality of Lippe, rendered in fine relief within a large shield occupying most of the field. The shield is supported by foliate and drapery mantling on either side, and surmounted by a princely crown with cross finial. The multiple quarterings incorporate the distinctive rose of Lippe alongside various heraldic charges representing the constituent territories of the principality. No legend appears on this face; the entire composition is devoted to the armorial device, executed in a refined late-18th-century engraving style.
