| Reverse description | Conjoined facing busts of Robert Schuman (left) and Konrad Adenauer (right), rendered in high relief with a bold, sculptural style emphasizing the distinctive facial features of both European statesmen. The name ROBERT SCHUMAN arcs along the upper left periphery and KONRAD ADENAUER along the upper right. A compass rose device appears at the base of the field between the two effigies, with the fineness mark 925 incused below it in the exergue. |

This piece predates the euro by over two decades and sits in an odd historical gap: issued in 1975 under the "Eurozone" banner at a time when no such monetary union yet existed. The "10th Thaler of Europe" series was a privately organized commemorative initiative, not a government-sanctioned currency — these were never legal tender in any jurisdiction and circulated only among collectors and European federalist enthusiasts.
Schuman's 1950 declaration proposing a pooled Franco-German coal and steel authority is the political event this piece commemorates, with Adenauer having been its most consequential early endorser on the German side.
