Reverse description A crowned allegorical female figure, representing Germania or Muse, stands to the right beside a memorial stele decorated with an Alpha and Omega symbol and a sunburst. The stele bears Herder's birth and death dates marked by a star and a cross. Radiating beams emanate from behind the monument against a landscape background. The motto LICHT LIEBE LEBEN appears on the base of the stele, and a commemorative inscription occupies the right field. Engraver's initials appear in the lower exergue.
