Poland issued a silver 1000 Złotych commemorative for the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, but nickel trial strikes were produced beforehand as part of the approval process — the production metal was never intended for circulation. These essais exist in very small numbers and turn up almost exclusively in specialist Polish collections or in the auction records of central bank dispersals.
The ParM and Fischer references confirm authentication within the narrow literature covering Polish pattern and trial coinage, a field where documentation remains incomplete even now.
