Obverse description Central device depicts the crowned Polish eagle with wings spread, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The date 1989 is divided by the eagle's body, with digits flanking either side at mid-field. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA arcs around the upper periphery. The denomination 1000 is inscribed in large numerals across the lower field, flanked on each side by the zloty abbreviation ZŁ.

Reverse description A stylized bust of Pope John Paul II is depicted in right-facing profile, rendered with a bold outline against a finely cross-hatched background suggestive of a textile or architectural pattern. To the left of the portrait, a vertical black panel bears the legend JAN PAWEŁ II in upright Latin letters. The overall composition is modern and graphic in execution, with strong contrast between the polished portrait and the textured field.
