Obverse description The Polish state eagle — the crowned white eagle with wings displayed and talons clutching — is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, engraved in the style used during the People's Republic of Poland era. The date 1987 is split to either side of the eagle's lower body, with the mint mark MW incorporated. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination ZŁ 1000 ZŁ is prominently displayed in large numerals along the lower portion of the field.
