Additional information

The National Schools Aid Action — known in Polish as Społeczny Fundusz Budowy Szkół — was a state-organized fundraising initiative through which the communist government mobilized public contributions toward school construction, framing civic obligation as voluntary participation. Trial strikes for this series were produced at Mennica Państwowa in limited numbers for internal approval and collector distribution, and the alloy used here — .625 fine rather than the standard .750 silver common to Polish commemoratives of the period — distinguishes the proof trials from regular issue pieces in a way not always reflected in secondary references.
