Obverse description The Polish state eagle — the crowned white eagle of the People's Republic — is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, with wings spread and head turned to the right. The date 1985 is divided by the eagle's body, with '19' to the left and '85' to the right, and the mint mark 'MW' appears below. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' runs along the upper periphery in Latin characters. The denomination 'ZŁ 1000 ZŁ' is prominently displayed in large characters across the lower field, engraved by Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt.
