Obverse description The obverse features the Polish state eagle of the People's Republic of Poland — a stylised, spread-winged eagle without a crown — rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The date 1985 is split either side of the eagle's body, with the mint mark 'MW' below. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 'ZŁ 1000 ZŁ' appears in large numerals below the eagle. The design is executed by engraver Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt in the characteristic Socialist-era Polish numismatic style.
