| Obverse description | Central view of the Yellow Crane Tower (黄鹤楼), a celebrated multi-tiered classical Chinese pavilion rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. The structure is depicted with characteristic upswept eaves on each storey, surrounded by decorative rockwork and foliage at its base. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs across the upper field in Chinese characters. The date 1996 appears in Arabic numerals along the lower rim, with a small engraver's inscription to the lower right of the tower. |
